What is Polynomial Degree?

The degree of a polynomial is the highest power of x that actually has a non-zero coefficient — the term that decides how the graph behaves at the edges. The leading coefficient is the number in front of that term.

How it works

The polynomial is parsed and simplified, the largest occupied power is read off, and the number of non-zero terms is counted. Entering a value for x also evaluates the polynomial with Horner's method, which is the same check done by hand.
