What is Team Generator?
Random teams are fair but can be lopsided; teams picked by captains are balanced but hard on the students chosen last. A snake draft is the middle ground: students are ordered by ability and dealt in alternating directions, so the strongest players end up on different teams without anyone being visibly ranked in front of the class.
How it works
With ratings in the list, students are sorted strongest first and dealt 1-2-3-4 then 4-3-2-1, which keeps team totals close rather than only the counts. The spread — the difference between the strongest and weakest team total — is shown so you can re-draft if you want it tighter. With no ratings the list is simply shuffled, so teams are still an unbiased random split.
