Flooring Calculator
Boxes of flooring needed for a room, including a waste allowance.
What is Flooring?
Flooring — laminate, vinyl plank, engineered wood — is sold in boxes that each cover a stated square footage. The raw division is never the answer: boards are cut to length, offcuts rarely fit anywhere else, and a diagonal or herringbone layout wastes far more than a straight one. That is what the waste percentage is for, and a sensible default (10%) is prefilled rather than demanded.
How it works
Area times (1 + waste%) gives the area to actually cover; dividing by the per-box coverage and rounding up gives the box count. The zero-waste figure is shown beside it so the cost of the layout decision is visible, not hidden inside one number.
