Validate Ansible playbook structure: plays, hosts, and tasks.

What is Ansible Check?

A structural validator for Ansible playbooks: plays must be mappings with hosts (or import_playbook), and tasks ideally have names.

How it works

The YAML parses as a list; each play is checked for hosts/import_playbook and each task list for name warnings.

  1. Enter your input. Type or paste your input into the field above — the tool responds instantly.

Examples

Playbook pre-flight

Validate an Ansible playbook for valid structure — hosts, tasks, and module keys — before running it against inventory.

Common mistakes

Not a full ansible-lint replacement

This checks structure and common errors locally; it can't validate against your roles or collections.
