Late Assignment Penalty Calculator
Apply a per-day late penalty to a score, capped as your policy requires.
What is Late Penalty?
Almost every late policy is written as a percentage removed per day, up to a maximum. Applying it consistently matters more than the exact rate: a penalty that is worked out from what is left each day, rather than from the original score, quietly produces a different result from the one in the syllabus.
How it works
The deduction is calculated from the score the work originally earned, then capped at your maximum, then subtracted — so 10% a day on work worth 84 points removes 8.4 points a day, not ten percent of a shrinking total. The result can never go below zero, whatever the rate, and a day-by-day ladder shows exactly what each additional day would cost, which is what a student actually asks when they hand in late.
