What is UUID Validate?
A UUID inspector: it validates the 8-4-4-4-12 format and decodes the version and variant bits encoded in the string.
How it works
A strict regex checks the shape, then the version nibble (char 13) and variant bits (char 17) are read and labeled per RFC 4122.

Examples
Checking an incoming ID
Paste a candidate UUID and get version/variant detection — is it v4 random or v1 time-based, and is it in canonical lowercase form.
Common mistakes
Hyphens aren't optional
A bare 32-hex string without hyphens is not a standard UUID string. The validator explains exactly what's missing.
Frequently asked questions
Which versions can it detect?
v1 through v5, identified from the version and variant bits embedded in the UUID, plus the nil UUID.
Does it accept uppercase?
Yes — uppercase and mixed-case UUIDs validate, and a normalize option converts to canonical lowercase.
