Fibonacci Calculator
Find any Fibonacci number exactly, using big integers past term 78.
What is Fibonacci?
The Fibonacci sequence starts 0, 1 and continues by adding the previous two: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, … The ratio of consecutive terms converges on the golden ratio φ ≈ 1.6180339887, which is why the sequence turns up in spiral growth patterns and in the analysis of Euclid's algorithm.
How it works
Values are computed as exact integers with BigInt, not as floating-point numbers. F(79) = 14,472,334,024,676,221 is already past the 9,007,199,254,740,991 that a JavaScript number holds exactly, so from term 79 the least significant digits of a float calculation are simply wrong — a calculator that reports F(100) as 354224848179261915075 has to be using exact arithmetic or it is guessing. Fast doubling means even F(100,000), with over twenty thousand digits, is instant.
