Fence Calculator
Posts, rail segments and concrete for a fence run — end posts included.
What is Fence?
A run of L feet with posts every S feet needs ⌈L ÷ S⌉ + 1 posts — the +1 is the far end post, the thing every back-of-envelope drops. Gates replace the rail between two posts, so they reduce the panel count without changing the post count. The spacing a layout actually lands on is rarely the spacing you asked for: a 100 ft run at 8 ft spacing is 14 bays of 7.69 ft, and knowing that before digging is the point.
How it works
Segments = ceiling(length ÷ spacing); posts = segments + 1; rail segments = segments − gates. The true spacing (run ÷ bays) is shown beside the requested one. Optional concrete bags multiply the post count by the bags-per-post figure, for the 50 lb post-mix bags the note describes.
