Apply configurable fade-in and fade-out envelopes to the start and end of an audio clip.
What is Fade Editor?
A fade editor for music beds, podcast intros and outros, ringtones and any clip that needs to start or end gently.
How it works
You choose how long the fade lasts at each end and which curve to use (linear, quarter-sine, exponential or logarithmic); a canvas draws the resulting envelope. ffmpeg's afade filter applies it on export, while a Web Audio path renders a quick lossless WAV preview.
- Load your file. Drag a file onto the drop zone or pick one from your device. It is read locally by the browser and never uploaded.
- Set the options. Adjust the handles, format, quality or threshold controls — the preview updates as you change them.
- Process and download. Run the tool, then download the result. Compare the reported before/after size for compressors and converters.

Common mistakes
Expecting instant encoders
Video encoding runs in single-threaded WebAssembly, so a clip takes roughly its own length (or a little longer) to re-encode. Stream-copy operations are near-instant by comparison.
Re-encoding when a copy would do
Trimming, removing audio and joining same-codec clips can copy streams without re-encoding — pick the copy option when it is offered to avoid any quality loss.
Ignoring the first-load download
The media engine is about 31 MB and is fetched on first use, then cached. The first conversion on a connection is slower than every later one.

Which curve should I use?
Quarter-sine is the smoothest to the ear and the standard choice for music. Linear is predictable for sound design; exponential fades feel more natural than linear on quiet passages.
What is the quick WAV preview?
It applies the fade in the browser with the Web Audio API and gives you a lossless WAV, which is handy for checking the shape quickly without waiting for an encoder.
Can I fade only part of a longer file?
Yes — set the region handles on the waveform, and both the fades and the export apply to that section.
